Our Experience
Often we don’t think about how much of an impact our eyelashes and eyebrows have on our appearance. This becomes apparent when we see how stark a difference it makes without them, particularly in cases of hair loss – eyebrows and eyelashes are suddenly missed. Hair loss – eyebrows and eyelashes often affect one’s self-esteem. Eyebrows and eyelashes give our face definition. The good thing about starting this business is that I have learned more about alternatives with regards to hair loss – eyebrows and eyelashes from my customers. As I lost my hair as a child, eyebrows and eyelashes were not part of my agenda at that age. I guess I just got used to not having them until later on in life. However, some clients who have lost their hair later in life speak about how the loss of eyelashes is something they miss. These were once beautiful and a feature they loved about themselves. This made me experiment with eyelashes, and I discovered they do make a difference, especially when dealing with hair loss – eyebrows and eyelashes! The revelation is akin to discovering the difference between human hair wigs and synthetic hair wigs for everyday wear.
Eyebrows
For most of my adult life, I used an eyebrow pencil to create eyebrows. However, with the brow craze in the last decade, six years ago I treated myself to having these micro-bladed. I had always been wary of anything permanent due to concerns tied to hair loss – eyebrows and eyelashes. What if my hair came back and I had two sets of eyebrows? However, once I had them done, I was delighted by the fact that they were always there. I felt less alien looking when I didn’t have make-up on. Thankfully I was old enough to know not to go for the big brow fashion at the time. I just had my normal style done, as they are still visible after all this time. Even eyebrow pencils are so much better and finer these days to top them up with. We supply removable tattoo ones too, which were another revelation. Eyebrow stencils can also be used. We also supply human hair ones… I must try these and see how long these stay on for next!
Eyelashes
This has been another revelation… once I tried false eyelashes, I realised not all false eyelashes are the same! I still don’t wear these all the time, as you can still add impact with eyeshadows etc. However, they certainly are lovely. Again, even though I now supply some of these, talking to customers has been invaluable. Even information about the best glues and tips for putting them on are best gained, just like with wigs, from people who have lots of experience. Especially given, if you are using them to enhance existing eyelashes and eyebrows, there is something for them to sit on top of. This helps keep them going in the correct direction. It is slightly more tricky without this pre-existing base. When visiting us to find a wig or hairpiece, we can chat about hair loss – eyebrows and eyelashes.
