We advise our clients to take it home and experiment with the position you feel comfortable in having it sit on your head. Play about with tying it back to decide on length and then get it cut. We refer clients to 3 different hairdressers depending on your location. Slowly slowly when getting it cut. Always take off less than you think and you can always have more taken off on another visit.

Hair Dressers

We refer our clients to very experienced hair dressers who can cut their wig or topper for them and are used to working with wigs. In addition, they guide people on what will work and what won’t work. They have the experience to say no if they think a suggestion will ruin a wig or topper.

Cutting to Personalise Your Wig

A golden rule for getting your wig cut is to go for the very minimum on first cut. If you require a fringe ask for it to be thinner and longer than you think you want and then you can add more later. If you have had really thin hair for years, don’t try to emulate this in your wig. Many people are trying to replace the hair they have lost. So more hair does this but will feel different as you are used to seeing yourself with less hair. It will become a good different!

Wear it about the house and get used to seeing yourself with more hair before cutting. You will very quickly see how soon you start to feel more familiar with the new you with more hair.

Over thinning and razoring also leaves hair that is difficult to curl or put a wave in. It can also look like split ends. When the ends of a wig are thinned too much, the number of hairs on the base remains the same. In the absence of the hair length weighing the hair down, you can end up with a mushroom effect. Our advice would be to embrace your new luxurious hair!

Custom Made Human Hair Wigs

Made Especially For You

The possibilities multiply when you opt for a custom luxiourious human hair wig.  You can have a range of features in cap construction and stipulate colours. Very importantly you can select a base which is your exact size. Off the peg wigs tend only to come in 1 or 2 size options.  The process can take a few months but generally customers who opt for human hair, once they have a custom made base can work from this for the next wig and tend to have 2. They can then move to the next one when the time comes instead of waiting.  People who wear wigs like we do often have an older one which they use for everyday, or about the house. They also may have a newer one and these rotate with wear with the newer one becoming the everyday and so on.

Custom Made Wigs Large Caps, Petite Caps, any Size Cap!

Often our head shapes and sizes may be classed as an average in one measurement, but may be classed as petite in another measurement. Also, cap sizes can vary by manufacturer and construction. We can advise on this. For a truly personalised fit and if you are going to be wearing your hairpiece or wig ongoing, it is often a really good investment to purchase a custom made piece.

These aren’t as expensive as I once imagined when I was a customer. Also, just like the difference between the feel of human hair wigs and synthetic, can be a revelation if you have always worn synthetic. Similarly, a custom fitted cap can be the same revelation. What’s more, you can customise the cap with all the must haves you would desire to make it super comfortable and realistic. You can also have the hairpiece or wig made in a range of human hair types and lengths.
