Cap construction matters as much as hair quality when it comes to comfort, breathability, and realism. Understanding these factors is crucial when selecting Human Hair Wigs and Toppers. Here’s a quick guide to help you understand the most common wig bases.

Base Types:

  • Lace Front: Creates a natural-looking hairline
  • Monofilament: Each hair is individually tied for a realistic parting
  • Silk Top: Hides knots completely – looks like your scalp
  • Wefted Base: Lightweight and breathable for daily wear

Different types of base suit different lifestyles and personal preferences. For example there are lots of social videos of wigs with a lot of lace in them. Personally when choosing a wig for myself and if it human hair, I wouldn’t opt for too much lace. Why? Human hair tends to be heavier than synthetic and the lace is the most delicate part of the wig. Human hair is more expensive normally than synthetic and so it is an investment. I would want a base that is substantial and is going to last as long as the human hair attached to it is expected to last. This is just my personal preference.
